Don't underestimate the power of Yoga. I always thought of yoga as calming and not as a cardio exercise. I was wrong. Since doing Yoga to lose weight, I've gotten a great cardio workout, resistance training and stretch training to regain and maintain flexibility.

Warming up is essential to any work out. Stand straight with feet shoulder width apart and hands at your side; breathing in your nose and out your mouth. Raise your arms over head while breathing in deeply. Exhale while you lower your arms and bend your back down to touch toes. Repeat for 5 reps slowly.
2Build muscle and increase heart rate and you have guaranteed weight loss. Go into the plank position. If this plank exercise don't make you sweat nothing will. The plank and the down facing dog position (step 3) will be done together. Stay in plank pose for a count of 8. Repeat 8 reps alternating with step 3.
3Down facing dog will challenge the upper arms even more. Come out of the plank directly into down facing dog pose. Don't forget to breathe. Alternate with step 2 for 8 reps and a count of 8. In order words, you will stay in each pose for a count of 8 and alternating from plank to down facing dog for 8 reps.
4From your down facing dog pose bring right leg up and through your arms. Stay here for a count of 8. Really feel this stretch.
5Come up to warrior one pose. Hold for a count of 8. Stand up straight and bring feet together for next position.
6From a standing position sit back in a chair pose holding for a count of 8.
7You just completed your first rotation. Repeat step 1-6 without stopping. Work your way up to 3-5 rotations. Take it slow if you can only do one rotation that is better than nothing at all. Good Job!
8Cool down is the same as warm up. Excellent job. Workout with different yoga tapes to keep you motivated. Comcast On Demand has great yoga classes that you can take for free.
