If your dog is eating nothing but table food, it can have dangerous effects on her. Also, if you're overfeeding your dog, this can also cause issues. Keep in mind that a large dog should have 2-3 small meals a day instead of one large meal. In order to get your dog eating correctly, you will need to find a healthy dog food that she likes that is rich in vitamins and minerals. Buy the smaller bags while you search for one she likes.

Once you've found the right dog food, start adding crushed steamed vegetables into their food. This will help them get a lot of the extra vitamins and minerals they need and help them lose weight.

After your pet had made the food adjustment, it's time for exercise. Put your dog on a leash If your dog starts breathing heavily during the walk, take a 3-to-5 minute break and get moving again. Be sure to have plenty of water on hand and a portable dog bowl. If your dog starts hyperventilating, call a vet immediately and get him somewhere cool.

As your pet gets used to his daily walks, begin walking for longer periods of time. Thirty minutes a day is necessary for a dog to get all of his needed exercise. If you have a little more time, take him to a dog park and let him run around off of the leash for awhile. Mix it up a little. Take him to new places. Run with him, take him or her swimming. There's no limit. Not only is this good for him, it's good for you as well.

Once your dog loses some weight, keep up the good work. You cannot stop the efforts or else the weight gain will come right back.
