What Is the File Extension GI?

Produced by Roxio, RecordNow is a software program used for organizing digital music. A number of files are associated with RecordNow, including .gi files.

Identification

A file with the .gi file extension is known as a Sonic RecordNow CD image.

Function

A .gi file is a copy of digital music files that are saved together. The .gi file extension serves as a marker to your computer, signaling that the files require a compatible software program to access the files.

Use

Gi file extensions are meant to be burned to a recordable CD. You can also save the CD on an external hard drive or zip drive to access the play list.

Programs

In addition to Roxio RecordNow, you can also play or burn .gi files with ISOBuster or UltraISO.

Considerations

Deleting a .gi file from your computer will only delete the play list. The original music files will remain on your hard drive.
