Sunbird Neptune 160 Specifications

Sunbird Boats was a division of the Outboard Marine Corporation. The company manufactured the Sunbird Neptune from 1996 through 1998. Specifications remained fairly constant throughout the vessel's three-year history. OMC ceased manufacturing the Sunbird line of watercraft in 1998.

Identification

The Sunbird Neptune 160 was an outboard, center-console vessel built on a fiberglass hull. Overall length, width, weight and maximum horsepower varied depending on the year of manufacture.

Size: Length and Width

When the Neptune 160 was introduced in 1996, it measured 16.42 feet in overall length with a beam, or width, of 83 inches. In 1997, the vessel was lengthened to 16.67 inches, while the beam remained constant at 83 inches. These dimensions remained the same during 1998, the last year the Neptune 160 was manufactured.

Size: Weight and Engine

In 1996, the Neptune 160's dry weight -- without passengers or fuel -- was 1,662 lbs. In 1997, the weight of the vessel increased to 1,727 pounds. In 1998, the boat's weight was reduced slightly to 1,706 pounds. The maximum recommended engine size was 115 horsepower in 1996. In 1997 and 1998, that number was reduced to 90 horsepower.
