Low Blood Sugar Diet Recipes

If you have Diabetes, or a blood sugar dysfunction, then you know how important it is to find low blood sugar diet recipes. But actually, it can be easy to transform a recipe that you can no longer have because it is high in sugar, into a wonderful low-sugar dish. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Agave Nectar

    Agave nectar is a wonderful substance made from the agave plant. It is sweeter than sugar yet is considered a low glycemic index food. Simply substitute it for sugar in any recipe--3/4 cup agave nectar for 1 cup sugar.

Stevia

    Stevia comes from a plant that is naturally sweet without any processing. You can purchase it in liquid, powder or leaf form, and add it to recipes according to the instructions you find on its bottle. It can have a mild aftertaste, but it is totally natural and does not raise blood sugar at all.

Xylitol

    Xylitol is a substance made from beech trees that not only does not raise blood sugar, but also keeps your teeth healthy. Xylitol can come in many different forms, including powdered for for baking. You can also find many candies containing xylitol instead of sugar.

Effects

    By substituting natural sugar replacements you can enjoy the tasty and sweet desserts that you love without any unhealthy side effects. You can find these sugar substitutes at any health food store or natural foods market.

Warning

    Never eat a chemically created sugar substitute, such as aspartame, sucralose or maltitol. These are extremely dangerous and should never be eaten by anyone.
