Spider veins, also medically termed telangiectasia or venulectasia, are small clusters of red, blue or purple veins mostly appearing on the thighs, legs, calves or ankles. According to VNUS, women account for a higher percentage of spider veins, often making them feel insecure about the appearance of their legs. Medicated Lotions

    Special, formulated lotions get to the root of the problem. Their key ingredients, vitamin K and Phytotonine, help clear discolored areas on the skin and reduce bleeding and seepage in the vein walls. Phytotonine specifically strengthens vein walls and improves wall density and strength, while vitamin K works to improve blood flow in the microcirculation. Carrier ingredients such as aloe butter, jojoba and emu oil soften and smooth the skin while lightening discolored areas. If taken as directed, the lotion can heal spider veins within three to four months.

Firming Lotions

    Skin-firming lotions are just one type of cream that can reduce visible spider veins. The legs and feet should be kept elevated.
