How You Can Lose Water Weight Overnight

If you are trying to lose weight, water can be one of the obstacles you have to overcome. Water weight can cause you to feel and look bloated and add several pounds to the number on the scale. Your body can retain water for many reasons ranging from excessive salt intake, nutritional deficiencies, hot-weather reactions and as a side effect of certain prescription drugs. To quickly lose water weight, or to prevent it altogether, make several adjustments to your lifestyle.

Instructions

    1

Consume a maximum of 1,500 mg of sodium daily as recommended by the American Heart Association. Consuming a diet high in sodium will make your body hold onto water and cause bloating.

    2

Sweat out excess water and sodium by performing cardiovascular exercise two to three hours before going to bed. Taste your sweat; if it's salty, it means you are losing excess sodium.

    3

Drink water all throughout the day to flush toxins, including excess sodium, out of your body. Hydrate your body because a dehydrated body will retain water and get bloated. The Clemson University website suggests you drink up to 12 glasses of water daily.

    4

Avoid carbohydrates because they absorb water and make you bloated. Eat carbohydrates early in the day if you have to have them so they have plenty of time to digest.

    5

Avoid caffeine and alcohol because they dehydrate you, which motivates the body to retain water.

    6

Take a vitamin B supplement and a multivitamin. According to the Native Remedies website, vitamin B is helpful in the prevention of water retention. The multivitamin might be needed because while you are trying to rid your body of excess water weight, you also might lose vitamins that your body needs.

    7

Take a water pill before bedtime because it puts sodium into your urine, so you flush it out and prevent water weight.
