How to Grow Black Hair Long and Fast

Learn the fast way to naturally grow black hair long. The rules are different for black hair textures and there's no one size fits all advice. Growing your hair long and fast is all about minimizing damage/breakage and giving your black hair all it needs to be healthy from the inside out. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Practice healthy overnight hair care to maximize how fast your black hair grows. You may take care of your hair during the waking hours but what about at night? Sleep with a satin scarf or pillowcase to minimize damage during the night. Working to grow black hair out long means protecting it around the clock.

    2

Keep ends trimmed. You'll need to trim 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch of hair every six to eight weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows and how much damage it sustains from styling. Remember, growing black hair is about minimizing damage so don't be afraid to snip those ends off. Failing to do so will break off healthy hair.

    3

Nourish your hair from the inside out. It doesn't matter how much you pay for your hair products and how gently you style your hair if you don't eat right. Eat a balanced diet of plant-based foods of all colors to get all the vitamins and minerals your hair needs. Don't forget to eat enough healthy fats and protein, too.

    4

Take a hair growth vitamin to supplement the nutrients you don't get from your diet. If you know you don't eat like you should, make a small investment in hair growth vitamins and watch your hair sprout out into a strong, healthy mane.

    5

Cover the collar of your wool coats and sweaters with a soft scarf. If your daily winter coat is made of wool and your hair is long enough to reach it, then your coat is breaking some of your hair off.

    6

Don't wash your hair every day. If your hair products are weighing your hair down, ask your stylist for a light-weight alternative that will allow you to wait a few more days to wash it. Black hair can grow longer and stay more hydrated when shampoo has sodium laureth sulfate instead of ammonium laureth sulfate as the cleaning agent. Check the label on the bottle before you buy it. Unless it's a clarifying shampoo, it should contain the sodium ingredient.
