How to Cut Sugar to Lose Weight

Losing weight can be attained by cutting your intake of sugar. Choosing to eliminate soft drinks from your diet will help you achieve weight loss. A large sugar intake can play havoc with your body. The more sugar you consume, the harder your body must work by increasing production of insulin. This will also cause your blood glucose level to surge and dip. The effect on your insulin level can be severe and lead to type 2 diabetes. Cutting down on sugar leads to better health and losing that extra weight. Add this to my Recipe Box.

    Start a journal. Keep track of everything you eat each day. Cutting back on sodas and other sugary drinks is a good start. Eat more whole fruits and eliminate sweets.

    Stay away from artificial sweeteners. Many of these sweeteners may contain aspartame which can be harmful over time. If you must use a sweetener, moderate use of honey or Stevia is advised.

    Check the labels while shopping at the grocery store. Choose products that contain less than 10 g sugar per serving. Sugar can be found in a variety of products, from ketchup to baked beans -- even cough syrup. Look at the labels for sugar content in these items as well.

    Eliminate white bread from your diet and replace with wheat or whole grain bread. White bread as well as pastas and potatoes can have the same disturbing effect on your metabolism. This can lead to fat storage which will cause weight gain.
