How to Copy Pictures From Shutterfly & Move to Picasa

Shutterfly is a photo and video hosting service that allows you to share your memories with friends and family, as well as order prints. Picasa Web Albums is a similar service, provided by Google. If you are making the switch, there are a few ways to get your pictures out of Shutterfly and back on your computer. Once you have done that, uploading to Picasa is a breeze.

Instructions

    1

Download your pictures from your Shutterfly account. You can download pictures individually by clicking "Download this picture" on each photo page, while signed into your account. Unfortunately, you are unable to download pictures in their full resolution. If you would like to retain the print-quality resolution, you will need to request an archive DVD that can be mailed to you.

    2

Navigate to the Picasa Web Albums site using your web browser. You will need to log in with your Google Account.

    3

Click "Upload" from Picasa's toolbar. You are asked to select the album you wish to upload the photos to, select "Create a New Album" if you do not have any set up already. Click "Continue."

    4

Click "Choose File" and browse to the desired Shutterfly photo, saved on your computer or on the archive DVD. Make sure the archive DVD is inserted in the computer, if you chose that route. Repeat for additional photos. Click "Start Upload" to begin uploading the photos.

    5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for additional photos.
