How to Control Gherlin

How to Control Gherlin

Ghrelin is the hormone that your body makes in order to ensure that you eat enough. Ghrelin is the one responsible when you're trying to diet, and you can't stop thinking about chocolate-covered donuts every few minutes. Here are a few ways that you can put this hormone in check if you're trying to drop a few pounds.

Instructions

    1

Become familiar with another hormone, leptin. Leptin suppresses appetite, so if you can get your levels of this good hormone up, then you can put your ghrelin in check. One way you can do this is by cutting out sugar from your diet. Your body responds to sugar by increasing it's levels of ghrelin, and you don't want that!

    2

Avoid increasing ghrelin levels by also eliminating foods that your body quickly converts into sugar, such as processed flours, potatoes and corn products. Your best bet is eating lots of green leafy veggies and lean meats.

    3

Watch your saturated fat intake, as it can turn on the ghrelin as well. Stick to low-fat yogurts, milk and cheeses, and choose lean cuts of meat.

    4

Being dehydrated can increase the hormonal signals that ghrelin sends out. Be sure to drink plenty of water. You'll be surprised at how much drinking water can eliminate hunger pangs.

    5

Eat small meals that have plenty of protein. This way, your hunger hormones will stay balanced!
