How to Bake With Healthy Sugar

How to Bake With Healthy Sugar

Too much sugar can ruin diet plans, fitness goals and healthy weight loss plans. Sugar produces short-term spikes in energy that result in an energy crash and can cause weight gain, tooth decay and raised blood sugar. Refined white sugar in particular is detrimental to health due to its ability to spike insulin levels and its high glycaemic levels. Fortunately, cutting back on sugar doesn't mean cutting back on the baked goods you love. There are many healthier alternatives to white sugar, including agave nectar, honey, molasses and artificial sweeteners such as Splenda. Many recipes can be amended by substituting part or all of the sugar with these alternatives. One classic recipe, chocolate chip cookies, can easily be amended to make for a healthier snack. This recipe yields 48 servings and at 31 calories per cookie, are a delicious alternative to cookies made with white sugar. Add this to my Recipe Box.
