Healthy 7 Day Diet to Lose Weight

There are many diets claiming you'll lose weight in seven days, but most require you to limit food variety, drink unappetizing concoctions or eat almost nothing at all. There is an alternative that involves eating as much as you want of the correct foods for a week.

Go Raw

Eating raw foods will cause your body to shed excess pounds. By cutting out animal fat and manufactured food products, you will give your body living food sources full of energy and nutrients. A raw diet consists of fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, beans, whole grains and, most importantly, lots of water. The best part of this diet is that you can snack on these foods all day long. Fresh fruits and vegetables are easy to carry with you, so are nuts and seeds. Make sure you are eating fresh, raw, organic (if possible), and unprocessed foods; avoid canned vegetables, canned fruits, candied nuts, dried fruit with sugar, canned beans or whole grains with added sugar.

A traditional raw food diet doesn't advocate the cooking of food; however, for this one week diet, I recommend cooking some foods. You will still harness the "raw" food energy and health benefits of cutting out animal fat and processed food from your diet.

Fixes For Cravings

Cravings can be overwhelming when changing your diet; don't let cravings steer you away from staying raw. Feed your cravings; homemade guacamole with carrot sticks, cucumber slices, or celery sticks for dipping helps calm the craving for fat. Salted mixed nuts help calm the craving for greasy salty food. Chocolate covered raisins or yogurt covered raisins or nuts (in moderation) calm the craving for candy. Natural peanut butter calms the craving for sugar (eat a tablespoon full when having a major sugar craving).

Meal Planning

Each day make sure to pack plenty of raw snacks for sudden cravings. Use plastic baggies for carrot and celery sticks, cucumber slices, snap peas, berries, mixed nuts, baked whole wheat crackers and seeds. Carry bananas, apples and oranges for snacking.

Fruit, whole wheat toast, plain oatmeal made with water and cinnamon, or whole wheat cereal with unsweetened almond milk, all make good healthy raw breakfasts. Using unsweetened almond milk allows you to enjoy eating healthy cereals and fruit smoothies for breakfast so you won't miss milk as much.

Whole wheat tortillas with pinto beans or vegetables make satisfying lunch wraps. Large fresh salads full of different vegetables, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with your favorite spices, also make satisfying mid-day meals.

Use a crock pot to slow cook beans; use the beans all week in different dishes. Your crock pot can also be used to make a delicious bean soup or vegetable soup for dinner. Combine your favorite vegetables and beans with natural tomato sauce, water, and spices; slow cook all day. You can enjoy your soup with brown rice or whole wheat pasta. An all vegetable stir fry cooked in olive oil and served over brown rice makes a delicious raw dinner.

You will find that because you're not limiting your carbohydrates, good fats, or portion sizes, this is an easy diet to enjoy and follow.

Step It Up

If you want to see even more weight loss during your seven day diet, exercise 30 to 60 minutes each day. After a week, if you still have pounds to shed, keep it up! By combining this healthy way of eating with regular exercise you can reach your goal weight quicker.

Want to lose weight faster? Include a protein shake every day. Use cup of unsweetened almond milk, cup of ice, and one scoop of your favorite high quality (organic if possible) protein powder for a base; if you like, you can add peanut butter, banana, or berries to give your shake more flavor. By increasing your protein intake while still following the raw diet you will see faster weight loss results.

Before starting this or any new diet you should consult your physician.
