Get Well Gifts for a Teenager

Get Well Gifts for a Teenager

Being sick as a teenager is tough. When a teenager in your life falls ill, whether the sickness is a simple cold or a longer and more difficult illness, a gift can help him feel better. Choose a practical gift that he can use during his illness, or something that will make him look forward to feeling better.

Books

Although most teenagers enjoy being active, when a teen is sick, all of that activity needs to be squelched. Staying in bed all of the time can get boring, so give the teenager something that can help cure the boredom, such as a book. Choose a book from a popular series that teenagers enjoy, such as "Harry Potter" or "Twilight." Another idea is to choose an activity book, such as crossword puzzles or sudoku.

Pajamas

Another smart idea for a get well present for a teen is a new set of pajamas. The teen will likely be staying in pajamas most of the time while she rests and tries to overcome the illness. Choose a pair of pajamas that are printed with something cheerful, such as sunshine or smiley faces. Alternatively, select a nightgown made of soft fabric.

Movies

Choose an assortment of movies for the teen to watch while she is sick in bed. Choose DVDs that are appropriate for teenagers to watch. You could also choose a hand-held DVD player that she can take with her to different treatments and doctor appointments.

Snacks

Some sick teenagers might have a restricted diet, or might not be able to hold down certain foods. Find out what kinds of things the teenager is able to eat and create a gift basket full of snacks. For example, a teen that just had his tonsils out is likely eating a lot of ice cream. Fill a gift basket with cute ice cream cups and an assortment of ice cream toppings, like nuts, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, sprinkles and cherries. Add a gift card to a local ice cream shop as the main ingredient.
