Foods With Natural Testosterone

Testosterone is a steroid hormone in the class called androgens. It is produced in the testes in mass quantities in males and in lesser amounts in females. Testosterone is responsible for the development of the secondary male reproductive system, which includes the deepening of the voice and the growth of facial hair. In turn, high testosterone levels have been found to increase sex drive. While testosterone is often thought of as a drug taken by injection, it can be found naturally in foods with high zinc, saturated and monosaturated fats and vitamin B contents.

Oysters

Because of their high zinc levels, foods known to raise testosterone levels often are called aphrodisiacs. Oysters are one such food. The high zinc levels in foods like oysters help increase both testosterone and sperm production.

Avocados

Avocados are high in both vitamin B6 and folic acid. Vitamin B6 will increase male hormone production while folic acid is key in sustaining a high metobolic rate.

Vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage have been found to lower estrogen levels. The smaller estrogen levels in turn is thought to increase the level of testosterone. Meanwhile, vegetables like asparagus are high in vitamin E, which is a natural antioxidant and stimulates the production of testosterone.

Eggs

Eggs are high in both vitamin B5 and B6. The presence of these vitamins helps balance both stress and hormone levels in the body. The helps ensure testosterone stays at a constant level.

Red Meats and Poultry

Red meats and poultry are rich in zinc and make up the lion's share of the zinc intake in the American diet. Red meats like beef, wild game, pork and lamb along with chicken, goose and turkey provide the needed zinc and saturated fats that have been found to raise testosterone levels.
