Easy Diets That Work

Dieters don't have a shortage of diet plans to choose from, however, finding the right program can be a challenge. Approximately 66 percent of adults in the United States struggle with weight issues, according to the U.S. Library of Medicine. Finding the right program and losing the weight has many health benefits, including: less risk of heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and certain types of cancers.

Mayo Clinic Diet

    The Mayo Clinic diet is relatively easy to follow and requires dieters to make lifestyle changes. Dieters follow the "Mayo Clinic Healthy Weight Pyramid," which allows participants to eat 3 servings of fruit, 4 servings of vegetables and 4 to 8 servings of carbohydrates. Dieters can also eat 3 to 7 servings of protein and dairy and up to 5 servings of fats each day. Sweets are limited to no more then 75 calories daily.

Meal Replacement Diets

    Meal replacements drinks typically provide 400 calories or less for a single meal and are considered nutritionally complete. These replacement options typically come in liquid formula, and the dieter consumes 1 to 2 meal replacement drinks a day. Then, a third meal is eaten, which usually contains up to 700 calories and is low-fat. According to the Mayo Clinic, when used correctly, meal replacement diets can be as effective as other diet options.

Group Diet Plans

    Group diet plan providers, such as Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig, focus on providing easy to follow diet plans, and provide a support system for weight loss. The Mayo Clinic reports this diet plan works relatively well, and participants can expect to participate in group weigh-ins, meetings and other activities to provide motivation and inspiration.

More Complicated Diet Plans

    Low-carb diets may produce results, but the weight lose isn't likely to last long-term, according to the Mayo Clinic. Since the diet plan is very restrictive, dieters may find it hard to stay on track. Popular versions of the low-carb diet include: the Atkins diet and the Protein Powder Diet.

    Another complicated diet is the low-glycemic-indiex diet. This diet focuses on eating foods that have a low-glycemic ranking. The amount of food eaten depends on a variety of factors, such as: age, weight and portion sizes.
