How to Skip Meals to Lose Weight

Losing weight is not always an easy task, especially for those who love to indulge. When we are looking to lose weight, the first thing we often decide to do is cut down on the amount of food we consume. This is a great idea for weight loss, but cutting too much from daily caloric intake or totally skipping meals to lose weight can do more harm than good.

Instructions

Skipping Meals and Weight Loss

    1

Cut any unnecessary calories during your day. We often forget that soda, juice and other beverages contain up to 200 calories in an eight-ounce serving. A thirsty person can easily consume 2 to 3 times that in one sitting, and that is 400 to 600 "empty" calories consumed.

    2

Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day instead of three larger ones. This will balance your caloric intake and keep your metabolism at a constant burning rate.

    3

Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially when you feel hungry. When you feel hungry it is often because the body is in need of water. By consuming a glass of water when you feel the first sign of hunger, you not only properly hydrate, but also eliminate feelings of hunger.

    4

Keep a journal or chart of the food you consume instead of dieting. Dieting only works if you are going to make it a lifestyle change. By keeping a record over a few weeks or months, you can see how much you are eating and where you can cut back.

    5

Exercise is important and usually required to some extent when trying to lose weight. Don't overdo it, especially if you are not used to exercising. Start by doing extra things to add more movement to you day. For example, park farther away from the building at the grocery store or dance for a half-hour after work. When it comes to cardio exercise, every movement that raises your heart rate counts.
