How to Make a Bacon Weave

How to Make a Bacon Weave

For a better tasting barbecue, just add bacon. Like strips of fabric, strips of bacon can be woven into a flavorful coat to cover meats as they barbecue. For an explosion of bacon, wrap pork sausages and chopped bacon inside a woven bacon mat. In addition to adding moisture and taste to dry, lean cuts, you can also cover other food with a woven mat of bacon to enhance their flavor. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

    1

Separate the strips of bacon and lay five next to each other vertically on the baking sheet.

    2

Place the first horizontal bacon strip on top of the left most vertical strip, under the second strip, on top of the third, under the fourth and on top of the fifth.

    3

Put the second horizontal strip just below the first. Place it under the left most vertical bacon strip, on top of the second, under the third, above the fourth and on top of the fifth.

    4

Weave the third bacon strip horizontally below the second strip using the same arrangement as you did for the first strip.

    5

Insert the fourth strip below the third, using the same weaving placement as for the second strip. Start at the left under the strip and go over the second, under the third, over the fourth and under the fifth vertical strip.

    6

Use the instructions for the third and first strips for the last horizontal strip.

    7

Pull together the bacon strips to close any gaps in the bacon weave. You should have a tightly woven square of bacon.

    8

Place the meat to be covered at one end of the bacon weave and roll.

    9

Cook the meat with the seam of the bacon weave down to prevent it from falling off.
