How Can a 14-Year-Old Lose Weight in Two Weeks?

We have what many doctors call an "obesity epidemic" among teenagers today. If you know a 14-year-old who is wanting to lose weight in two weeks, doing so requires planning and preparation. Watching caloric intake and exercising are two ways a 14-year-old will lose the weight. If you know a teenager who needs to lose weight in two weeks, there are a few things to keep in mind in order to accomplish that goal.

Instructions

    1

Determine the healthy weight a 14-year-old should be by consulting with your doctor. Your ideal weight is determined by your height, age, sex and percent of body fat.

    2

Exercise for 60 minutes a day. That is the recommended amount of physical activity required for teenagers. Instead of playing video games or watching television, join a sports team, ride a bike or do some swimming.

    3

Drink eight glasses of water a day and stop drinking soda. The average American teenager drinks three cans of soda a day. Cutting out soda, and the refined sugar in it, alone can help you lose one pound in a week.

    4

Eat three meals and two snacks a day. Plan your menu each week and prepare any snacks or meals ahead of time so they are ready to go when you need to grab something.

    5

Eat five to seven servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Consume only lean protein and watch the portion size of the food you consume. Eat breakfast daily. The calorie intake for a 14-year-old female who is moderately active is 2,000 calories, while that for a moderately active 14-year-old male is 2,400-2,800 calories.
