SVT stands for Special Vehicle Team. The Ford Focus SVT has an upgraded V-6 engine that is ready-made for major racing modifications. The Ford Focus SVT idler pulley is located on the upper passenger's side of the engine. The idler pullet is connected to the engine by three securing bolts in the center of the pulley. You can use a standard ratchet set to remove these bolt because the entire engine is set up for easy modification, so no major tools will be needed.
Instructions
- 1
Open the hood. Locate the large rubber tube running from the middle of the engine to the right front side of the engine. That is the air intake. Use the the flat head screwdriver to loosen the metal securing band from the air intake manifold in the middle of the engine. Pull the air intake from the air intake manifold.
2Locate the idler pulley. That pulley is directly across (to the right) of the engine alternator. Hold the idler pulley tightly with your hand and use the vise grip to unscrew the three securing bolts from the pulley. As the bolts are loosened the drive belt will loosen. Pull the drive belt off of the pulley as it loosens.
3Pull the idler pulley off of the engine after the three securing bolts have been removed. Place the idler pulley and the securing bolts in a safe place where you will not lose them.
